Emily Flitsch, Licensed Educational Psychologist, #4224

Emily Flitsch, M.A., Ed.S, LEP #4224

My name is Emily Flitsch, and I am a co-owner of Educate Every Mind. I obtained my Masters of Arts in Education with an emphasis in School Psychology as well as my Education Specialist Degree from Sacramento State University. Since 2013 I have served as a School Psychologist in public education, working with preschool age to high school age students. I have extensive experience conducting psycho-educational evaluations to identify disabilities associated with learning, social-emotional well-being, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism as well as other disabilities that can impact a child's education. Working within special education, I've dedicated myself to supporting students with diverse abilities, tailoring interventions to empower their unique strengths. I also have the unique opportunity to supervise school psychology interns and provide early career consultation and training.

Over the course of my career, I've discovered a passion for supporting students with dyslexia. I've attended specialized trainings that equips me with a skill set focused on the identification of dyslexia, as well as attending training on the Orton-Gillingham approach. This enables me to offer targeted and effective interventions. I constantly seek opportunities for further education, cherishing the process of learning and evolving.

As a mother of two, I've learned the art of balance—juggling the intricacies of my professional life while cherishing moments with my family. When I'm not engaged in the world of education, you might find me curled up with a good book, listening to Taylor Swift, or exploring Disneyland with my family and friends.

McKenzie Courtney, M.A., Ed.S, LEP #4087

My name is McKenzie Courtney and I am a co-owner of Educate Every Mind and practicing School Psychologist. My career journey initially began in the field of Occupational Therapy where I was interested in supporting individuals on the Autism Spectrum. After discovering the field of Educational Psychology, I found that this career was an avenue where I could reach many children and families, while supporting the “whole child.” I obtained my Masters of Arts in Education and Education Specialist degrees with an emphasis in School Psychology through California State University, Sacramento. Since 2018, I have served as a School Psychologist in public schools supporting students in grades preschool through 12th grade. In this role, I have extensive experience conducting psycho-educational assessments and providing counseling services to individuals with a variety of needs.

Additionally, I provide mentorship to early-career School Psychologists and professional development for educators. I am dedicated to taking a comprehensive role in order to identify and build upon the strengths of students. As an ongoing learner, I have found my passions in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Dyslexia. I have obtained additional training experiences through the UC Davis MIND Institute working with individuals with autism and anxiety, as well as Associate-Level training through the Orton-Gillingham Association.

Beyond my professional role, I am passionate about health and wellness. I love all things nutrition and fitness, including running, weight training, and yoga. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, and concerts!
